The United Kingdom opens its doors to non-UK teachers, offering an enticing opportunity through the International Relocation Payment Plan (IRP). This program is specifically tailored for teachers, both trainees, and experienced professionals, specializing in physics and languages. The initiative covers essential costs such as visas, health surcharges, and various associated expenses.

Financial Support:

Qualified participants in the program stand to benefit from a £10,000 grant provided by the Department for Education (DfE). This grant, disbursed around the conclusion of the first term of training or employment, is a one-time offering and does not require repayment. The IRP encompasses three distinct categories:

  1. Trainees on Fee-Paying Courses
  2. Teachers and Salaried Trainees
  3. Experienced Teachers

Eligibility Criteria for Teachers Applying to IRP:

To be eligible for the International Relocation Payment Plan as a teacher, candidates must meet specific criteria:

  • Physics Specialization: Applicants must be physics teachers with a focus on general or combined physics.
  • Non-UK Residence: Candidates should not be residing in the United Kingdom at the time of application.
  • Language Expertise: Teachers specializing in any language (excluding English) are eligible.
  • Recent Arrival: Candidates should not have been in England for more than three months before the commencement of their job.
  • Citizenship: Applicants must not be citizens of the UK, Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland.
  • Visa Application: Eligible candidates must apply for one of the following visas:
    • Skilled Worker Visa: Replacing the Tier 2 (General) work visa, it allows skilled workers to work and reside in the UK.
    • Student Visa: Designed for international students aged 16 and above seeking to study in the UK.
    • Youth Mobility Scheme Visa: Similar to the work visa, this option has specific criteria, including age restrictions (18 to 30, or 18 to 35 for applicants from New Zealand) and financial requirements.
    • India Young Professionals Scheme Visa: Tailored for young Indian nationals aged 18 to 30, allowing them to work and live in the UK.
    • Family Visa: Intended for individuals relocating to the UK with their families.
    • UK Ancestry Visa

How To Apply For The International Relocation Plan Program

Simply visit the IRP application portal here and click on the green Start button to commence the application. Answer the questions and click on the Continue button where necessary to proceed to the next page. The application will commence on. Eligible persons will receive the grant by latest January 31, 2024.
