The eligibility criteria for the Work-Study Program are as follows:

  1. Possession of a government student aid package of at least $2,000 for the 2023-2024 academic year, or proof of sponsorship from an Indigenous band, Metis Nation post-secondary funding, or disability funding for the same academic year. If there are delays in receiving funding, the Work-Study Program should be informed to make necessary arrangements. It’s important to note that previous government aid, personal bank loans, lines of credit, educational loans, and registered educational savings plans are not considered as valid funding sources for this program.
  2. Enrollment as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Manitoba for both the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms. Undergraduate students must carry a minimum course load of 60% (equivalent to 9 credit hours per term). Graduate students need to communicate with the program administrators to determine their eligibility on a case-by-case basis.
  3. Maintenance of a satisfactory academic standing with a minimum institutional grade point average of 2.0 in the previous academic session. However, this requirement doesn’t apply to new UM students.
  4. Residency in Manitoba for the duration of the Work-Study employment term.
